New Homes
Can I knock down and rebuild my home?

This depends on how old your home is. In Brisbane, majority of homes built before 1947 can’t be demolished. This means that if you’d like more space, an extension or ‘raise and build under’ may be good options for you. Meanwhile, homes built after 1947 may be knocked down and rebuilt. In some cases, a knockdown rebuild may even be a more economical option than renovating. If you are interested in a knockdown rebuild, we can support this process of building.

What sets HIC Building Co apart from other home builders in southeast Queensland?

Our transparent cost pricing, client-centric approach, and commitment to delivering on-budget solutions set us apart. We prioritise your vision and satisfaction. With a holistic approach to building, working with HIC Building Co means no surprises. We ensure your new home build follows a transparent process that’s customised to you. By upholding our commitment to communication, we keep you informed every step of the way towards your new home.

What type of homes can you build?

We specialise in custom homes built to suit your needs. This includes contemporary, modern Queenslanders that reflect your family's needs and lifestyle. We work with talented designers to craft home designs that suit you. Plus, we can create single and double-storey designs.

What does the new home build process look like?

Our process comes in three stages: Design, Construction, and Delivery. We work with you on designing and planning, including contract drawings and cost estimates. We then engage surveyors and other professionals in order to get our proposal approved. From here, our interior designers consult with you on design elements, and the engineers get the necessary certifications. We help with all aspects, and you can even move into your home fully furnished if you like.

How long does the process take?

Altogether, the usual timeline for a new build is approximately 12 to 14 months. We can give you a more accurate representation of timelines once we've started on your project so you have clear expectations from the beginning.

How much does a new home cost per square metre?

This can vary considerably, so there’s no one answer. We provide a custom estimate for each client that will outline an indictive cost; however, it’s important to keep in mind that this is not the only thing to look at in terms of price.

What warranties do you provide?

We offer a 12-month defect liability warranty and are fully insured. This includes public liability, construction, and the standard 6.5-year warranty.

Do you offer house and land packages or pre-set designs

No. HIC Building Co is a custom new home builder, and we strictly focus on building custom homes. With an emphasis on quality, we want to create a space that supports your family now and in the future.

How do you ensure quality throughout my new home?

We are hands-on on-site, ensuring a project manager and all other tradespeople are aligned with our quality standards to ensure the best result for you.

What types of clients do you typically work with?

We work with growing families who value build quality, outstanding value, comprehensive service, and attention to detail. If you want to build a custom home that ticks all your boxes, we can create a beautiful house that ticks all your boxes.

Renovations / Extensions
How much do home renovations cost?

The price of each home renovation is dependent on a number of factors, including everything from the scope of work to the quality of the materials and inclusions of the renovation.

Do you offer fixed-price quotes?

No, we don’t. We work on a Master Builders QLD Cost Plus Contract that allows us to be fully transparent with our pricing + our mark up.

Are there any renovations or extensions you don’t do?

At HIC Building Co, we focus on large scale projects. We typically don’t take on small renovations and extensions.

What separates you from other Brisbane builders?

Here at HIC Building Co, we want to offer a highly professional service that covers your complete renovation. House Lifts
What is house raising?

House raising, or a ‘raise and build under’ project, involves lifting your existing house and building underneath it to create space. This means that you can expand your home’s footprint without demolishing your property.

Why should I consider house raising instead of a renovation, extension, or knockdown rebuild?

In Brisbane, majority of homes built before 1947 can’t be demolished. If you want to stay in your pre-1947 home but need more space, house raising is an excellent option. This allows you to create the space you need while retaining your home’s character.

Homes built after 1947 are also suitable for house raising, provided they were built on stumps. In many cases, house raising is a more budget-friendly option than a new build.

What are the main benefits of house raising?

Along with additional space, house raising offers benefits such as preserving a home’s character, increasing functionality, and the potential to increase property value.
